On June 4, 2009, leadership training practitioners from across northern Indiana met in La Porte County to learn, share ideas, and network at this event which was hosted by Leadership La Porte County and sponsored by the Indiana Leadership Association.  Over 30 people spent the day connecting with colleagues who have a passion for leadership training and community development.  George Okantey, President of the Indiana Leadership Association, talked about the new ILA, its goals, programs, and membership benefits.  The ILA is encouraging and promoting district events around the state like this Roundtable.  Jim Jessup, Director of Leadership La Porte County and ILA board member said, “I wanted this event to serve as an example for the rest of the state that people interested in leadership and community development can come together to discuss ideas, tips and techniques, and share resources to be used in their own communities.”

Presenters at the Roundtable were Cindy Hedge, local attorney, facilitator, and trainer, and Keith Kirkpatrick, Executive Director of Leadership Northwest Indiana.  Jessup demonstrated a technique he uses to teach group collaboration, communication, leadership, and creative thinking.
